Five of the World’s Most Expensive Diamonds
We couldn’t resist giving you a rundown of five of the most expensive diamonds in the world!
1. The Pink Star
This oval-cut stone has beaten all competition to become the world’s most expensive diamond. At a Sotheby’s auction, a buyer was willing to pay 89m AUD for what is believed to be the largest known fancy pink diamond of its type.
2. The Winston Blue
In May 2014, one of the world’s largest vivid blue diamonds went up for sale in Geneva and set a record for its type with a 25.4m AUD price tag. Now owned by the Swatch Group, this beauty weighs in at 13.22 carats.
3. Greatest White
It was nicknamed ‘the greatest white diamond,’ and its sale price of 32.5m AUD certainly seems to agree with this accolade. This D-cut, flawless oval stone is an impressive 118.28 carats.
4. The Orange Diamond
Holding the record for the largest ever orange diamond sold at auction, this teardrop-shaped heavyweight diamond comes in at 14.82 carats and sold for 40.5m AUD in Geneva.
5. The Graff Pink
Selling for 53.3m AUD at auction, the Graff Pink diamond held the mantle for the most expensive pink diamond before the Pink Star broke its record. However, this 23.88-carat, step-cut, pale pink diamond remains one of the world’s finest.
